The Spanish FootbALL regional championships break down barriers to inclusion and pay tribute to victims in Valencia.
During this weekend, regional and youth football showed solidarity with the victims of the disaster caused by recent heavy storms. It also spread messages of respect and tolerance to promote positive social change in Europe.
The month of November kicked off with an unmissable event in the competition calendar: the U-14 and U-16 Spanish Regional National Team Championships in Cantabria, Madrid, Asturias and Extremadura, which were once again an opportunity for competition and for sharing sporting values, through the UEFA run ‘FootbALL’ campaign, which was present at the events.
Football is a powerful driver of inclusion and diversity and, therefore, its vital for its role to be open to all people who want to have the opportunity to enjoy it, learn and develop, especially when it comes to children or young footballers.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation, together with UEFA and in collaboration with Spain’s regional football federations, wanted to promote this message of equal opportunities in football through the Spanish Regional National Championships.
In all the tournament’s matches, and always with Valencia and the tragic events that took place last week in mind, the young team captains wore an armband with the logo ‘FootbALL’, to promote football for all, with respect and sportsmanship. In addition, before the match, the teams posed next to an image of the UEFA run programme.
UEFA's ‘FootbALL’ programme was launched in 2023 with the aim of using football as a vehicle for positive social change in communities across Europe.
