The starting gun for the Copa del Rey

The bases for the draw of the qualifying round are already known, where ten teams from the territorial football will face off against teams from La Liga

The road to glory is about to begin. The Copa del Rey kicks off this season with the qualifying round: ten exciting matches between teams from territorial football dreaming of victory to face a La Liga team.

CHECK THE SCHEDULES FOR THE QUALIFYING ROUND

As is customary in this knockout tournament, 115 clubs that participated in the previous season's First and Second Division Championships, as well as the First, Second, and Third Federations, are involved, in addition to the four semifinalists from this season's Copa Federación and the aforementioned ten teams from the territorial category.

In 55 competition matches, 110 teams out of the 115 participants will participate, as the current champion of Primera Federación (SD Amorebieta) is exempt from competing in the first round, as well as the four La Liga clubs (Real Madrid CF, C.A. Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid, and FC Barcelona). In this case, they start their journey in the Copa directly in the round of 16. A right they earned as participants in the Supercopa de España.

The draw for the first round of the Copa del Rey can be followed live through the official channels of the RFEF on social media and on the website rfef.es.

Draw dynamics

The pairings will be determined by draw, facing, as far as possible, the lower category clubs against the higher category ones. Seven draws will be used, including in each of them the 16 La Liga teams, the 20 Second Division teams, the 18 Primera Federation teams, the 34 Second Federation teams, the 8 Third Federation teams, the 4 semifinalists of the Copa Federación, and the 10 winning teams from the qualifying round.

The lower category team in each round will always play as the home team.

Key Dates

Once the qualifying round is played, which will take place on October 11 and 12, the draw for the first round of the Copa del Rey will be held. It will take place on the 17th of the same month at 1:00 p.m. at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas and can be followed live through the official channels of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

The matches for the first round of the Copa del Rey will take place between October 31 and November 2.
