The visit to the RCD Espanyol facilities brings to a close a joint working session between FIFA and Bid committee

The working group, which includes members of the organising committee on behalf of the RFEF, as well as technical staff, has completed official visits to four stadiums in Spain.

This Friday, RCD Espanyol in Barcelona welcomed the working party made up of FIFA representatives and the“Yalla! ¡Vamos! 2030” bid committee, made up of Morocco, Spain and Portugal, as part of the round of visits that have been carried out over the past week in our country. This joint group included representatives of the three football federations, as well as the Business Units created specifically for this project. Nicholas Rozenberg, FIFA's Director of Business and Strategy, led the international organisation's delegation on these visits, while María Tato, Jorge Mowinckel and Fernando Sanz, as members of the bid's Management Committee representing the RFEF, acted as hosts to their Moroccan and Portuguese counterparts. They were accompanied today by the representative of the Catalan Football Federation, Sergio Garrido.

During their visit to the facilities of the Stage Front Stadium, the group was able to learn about the refurbishment that the stadium is planning for the future. The deputy general manager of RCD Espanyol, Antoni Alegre, accompanied by the different technicians from the facility, was in charge of welcoming and receiving the whole expedition party. Afterwards, the stadium and operations director, Mariano Tejero, and the architect and partner assisting the club with the stadium refurbishment project, Andreu Tusell, gave technical explanations.

Also in attendance were representatives from the town councils of Cornellà and El Prat de Llobregat, the municipalities where the Espanyol stadium is located. Specifically, the meeting was attended by Joan Culillas, Sergio Fernández and Sergio Martín, on behalf of the Cornellà town council; and Olga Asensio and Lluis Gallego, representing the El Prat town council.

RCD Espanyol hopes that its current stadium will take up the baton from the old Sarrià, which hosted several of the matches at World Cup 82 held in Spain. It is worth remembering that this RCDE Stadium, in its almost 15 years of life, has hosted matches for top level national teams such as Brazil, Morocco and Spain.

This Friday's visit marked the end of the working sessions that the “Yalla! ¡Vamos! 2030” joint working group and FIFA began in Portugal last Monday. In our country, in addition to the Stage Front Stadium, the group visited San Mamés (Bilbao) and the Reale Arena - Anoeta (Donostia-San Sebastián) and the Spotify Camp Nou, also in Barcelona.
