"When I'm on the pitch I'm focused and doing my job, but when I'm off it I have an emotion similar to that of the father of any player out on the pitch", words from the head of a large family on a personal level and also a professional level.

Álvaro Borja Morata Martín is experiencing a life changing Euros for his career, wearing the captain's armband and involved in every last detail of the training camp’s day to day routines.

After winning continental trophies with Spain at Under-19 (2011), Under-21 (2013) and the UEFA Nations League with the senior side, the player from Mirasierra is just one match away from glory at the European Championships and wants nothing more than "to be able to make history after four or five months in which I have been telling my team-mates that we are going to win the European Championships, that we have to believe in it and now we are just one step away from achieving something that would mean a lot to me.

England are Spain's opponents in the final and a colossal obstacle to lifting the trophy, a team for which the Spanish captain has "great mutual respect because we are talking about one of the greatest teams in the world and in history, with one of the greatest leagues on the planet. I only have good words for them and surely in their case they would say the same".

Then he reflects positively on the whole of the Spanish national team, saying "they are very good: Lamine, Fabián, Laporte, Nico, Unai Simón, Cucu, Nacho... I can mention the whole squad and I think we are showing that in our country there are great players".

That's why Morata wants to end the adventure on a high, with the armband on and without renouncing his personality, the one that doesn't hold back on tears when watching the the country’s matches because, as he himself says: "There's no shame in crying for positive emotions and I hope I can cry a lot of tears of joy this Sunday".
