The World Cup winners to play Canada in Extremadura on 25 October
The Spanish National Team, current world champions, will return to Extremadura on 25 October to face Canada, after an agreement was reached between the RFEF, the Junta de Extremadura, and the city council of the aforementioned town, which was today submitted to the Managing Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
The national team will be warmly welcomed by Spanish fans upon their return to action at the Francisco de la Hera Stadium in Almendralejo (Badajoz). This top-level friendly match will be held on this date to coincide with the centenary of the Extremadura Football Federation.
The national team kicks off the season with their sights set on participating in the 2025 European Championships in Switzerland, a competition for which the national team has already qualified.
To start the season, they are now set to face an elite level opponent in Canada The North Americans are current Olympic champions, a trophy they won at the Tokyo Games and ranked 6th in the FIFA rankings, having proven themselves to be a highly skilled team and one to be taken seriously. The last match between the two teams dates back to 2022, when Spain won 1-0 in the Arnold Clark Cup in England.
The last time Spain visited Extremadura was in October 2021, when the national team played a friendly in Cáceres against Morocco, securing a 3-0 victory.
