UEFA, through its Directorate for Social and Environmental Sustainability, has granted the RFEF 20,000 euros for the Football and Refugees Scholarship Program for the 2022/2023 season. This has been officially communicated by Michele Uva, head of this UEFA department, to the RFEF's general secretary, Andreu Camps.

The RFEF has thus obtained a substantial subsidy for its Program, having been chosen among 24 national federations that have competed in what is the sixth edition of this call for UEFA grants. The funds allocated to this call have increased by 43% compared to last year.

The jury of experts who evaluated each of the proposals highlighted the great usefulness of some aspects of the RFEF project, such as language training, or the focus on the employability and social autonomy of refugee women.

In their evaluations, the UEFA officials also underline the knowledge of the needs of the refugees that the proposals reflected in the Program presented by the RFEF demonstrate.

It also recognizes the commitment to alleviate the migratory mourning and culture shock of refugees; and the actions aimed at providing them with contact with the local population and other migrants, while favoring their empowerment.

This is not the only initiative of the RFEF around refugees in recent months. It should be noted that the Spanish Federation will participate, along with 15 other national federations, in the Euro Unity Cup: a competition in which each country will compete with a selection of refugees. The tournament will be held on June 28 and will be held in the German city of Frankfurt.
