Spain's head coach in the limelight at the UEFA Coaches' Congress

Luis de la Fuente played a starring role at the coaches' meeting organised by UEFA in Berlin on Monday. The national coach received the recognition and affection of his counterparts at the Congress of coaches and sporting directors of national teams held in the city that hosted the final of the recent European Championships, a tournament that was gloriously won by the Spanish national team under the guidance of the coach from La Rioja.

The event, under the slogan ‘Tribute to the champions’, took place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Berlin, the same place where the national team stayed in the hours before the final of the European Championships. The epilogue to the fourteenth edition of this meeting of national coaches featured Luis de la Fuente, who spent 45 minutes answering questions from the UEFA organisers and from prestigious coaches and managers such as Fabio Capello and Roberto Martínez, who were interested in the Spanish coach's coaching methods and the way in which the dressing room was managed during the continental tournament.

The national coach is in the running for the Ballon D’or for best coach last season. Since joining the Spain bench, the Riojan has won the two major tournaments in which he has participated: the UEFA Nations League, won in 2023 after beating Croatia in the final in Rotterdam, and this summer's European Championship after beating England in Berlin.
