Just hours after landing in Valencia, the Spanish national team players took part in a training session fully open to the public at the Mestalla. This session went beyond football—it was held in a spirit of solidarity, featuring the Fila Cero initiative that allowed anyone wishing to contribute to donate towards the reconstruction of football facilities in areas affected by the storms last October. The Fila Cero initiative will also remain open for the upcoming match between Spain and the Netherlands.

Bank account details for donations: ES52 2100 5731 7802 0044 6016. Donations can also be made via BIZUM by entering the code ONG and sending it to 10687.

More than 20,000 fans gathered at the Mestalla to show their support for the national team and their commitment to rebuilding after the damage caused by the devastating floods. Vicente Navarro, was also honoured with a statue at seat 164, row 15 in the main stand, was among the special guests at the event. Navarro, Valencia CF’s member number 18, lost his sight yet continued to attend matches at the Mestalla to support his beloved team.

The RFEF also extended an invitation to the Pequeño Deseo Foundation, an organisation dedicated to making the dreams of seriously ill children come true—another demonstration of the federation’s commitment to the community.

This Sunday, 23rd March, Spain will play the second leg of their UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands. The match will serve as a tribute to those affected by the DANA, and fans will also have the opportunity to purchase charity shirts in support of the cause.
