Vicky López and Aitana Bonmatí have been honoured with the European Golden Girl and Golden Woman Player awards, respectively.

Vicky López has been crowned the best U-21 player in Europe. At just 18 years old, the midfielder becomes the first Spanish player to win this award, presented by the Italian sports daily newspaper TuttoSport.

After narrowly missing out last year, Vicky has now claimed the prize thanks to her exceptional skill and talent. Her outstanding season, which saw her win the UEFA Women’s Nations League with the National Team and a treble (League, Cup, and Champions League) with FC Barcelona, has earned her this international recognition.

The youngest player to make her debut in Liga F and the youngest debutant for her club, Vicky López’s achievements at such a young age are truly remarkable.

This award, established in 2018, has previously been won by Benedetta Glionna (Juventus) in its inaugural edition, Giada Greggi (AS Roma) in 2019, Asia Bragonzi (Hellas Verona) in 2020, Martina Tomaselli (Sassuolo) in 2021, Jule Brand (Wolfsburg) in 2022, Linda Caicedo (Real Madrid) in 2023, and now Vicky López in 2024.

Aitana Bonmatí, meanwhile, has been named Golden Woman Player in what has been a magical year for the midfielder, following her second consecutive Ballon d’Or success. This season, the player from Villanueva y Geltrú has set record-breaking statistics, winning four titles with her club as well as the UEFA Women’s Nations League with the national team.
