Vinícius Junior Man of the Match in the big final

Real Madrid's Brazilian player was decisive by scoring three goals for his team and helping them lift the title in a high stakes encounter.

The president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Yasser Al Misehal, presented Vinicius Junior with the trophy on the pitch of the Al-Awwal Park stadium in Riyadh, recognising the Brazilian as the best player in the final, in what was the 40th edition of the Super Cup.

At 23 years of age, the Brazilian player put in a memorable performance against FC Barcelona, scoring three goals in just thirty first-half minutes to effectively hand the trophy to the team from the Spanish capital.

Vinícius' hat trick puts him on a par with other great players such as Aritz Aduriz, Lionel Messi and Frédéric Kanouté, who have also scored three goals in the Spanish Super Cup Final this century, although the Brazilian is the first to do so in the current 4-team format.

Born on 12 July 2000 in the Rio de Janeiro town of Sao Gonçalo, Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior won his third Spanish Super Cup title this Sunday, all of them in even-numbered years, following his triumphs in 2020 and 2022. As always, doing his utmost for the Real Madrid shirt.
