Zubimendi: ‘I’d been looking forward to scoring my first goal’.

Martin Zubimendi scored his first goal in a Spain shirt against Denmark to give Spain the three points that moved them to the top of their UEFA Nations League qualifying group. It was a glorious night for the Real Sociedad midfielder. ‘I'm very happy, I had been looking forward to the first goal for my country’.

The midfielder scored with a long-range effort, something that is not very common for the midfielder from San Sebastian. ‘The coach is the first one to tell me to shoot, it's a resource that I don't usually use. Now, this goal has arrived and I have to dedicate it to my teammates and to the coach as well’, says a smiling Zubimendi. And he concludes: ‘There's a lot of joking among the group because I don't usually shoot. At last I've had the courage and it's gone in’.
