The 25 players called up by head coach Sonia Bermúdez took to Pitch D at the Ciudad del Fútbol for their first training session of this international window, which marks the beginning of their qualification campaign for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Just two hours after arriving at the team residence, the squad were out on the grass on a mild Wednesday evening (25 February), beginning preparations under the guidance of Bermúdez and her coaching staff.

Focus on Iceland first

All 25 players have started work ahead of their two upcoming fixtures. Iceland will be the first test of this opening camp of the year, which the team approach as back-to-back UEFA Women’s Nations League champions following December’s triumph.

The match against Iceland will take place on Tuesday, 3 March at 19:00 at the Estadio Castalia in Castellón. Four days later, on Saturday, 7 March, Spain will face Ukraine in Antalya, Turkey, kicking off at 18:00.

Securing qualification to defend their world title is the objective — and that mission begins now.
