Jorge de Frutos, 25th debutant of the De la Fuente era

Jorge de Frutos Sebastián can now proudly claim his debut with the Spanish national team. The player from Navares de Enmedio earned his first cap during his maiden call-up with La Roja.

At 28 years of age, the Rayo Vallecano forward wore Spain’s shirt for the first time in the second matchday of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, becoming the 25th player to debut under Luis de la Fuente.

De Frutos entered the pitch in the 68th minute, replacing two-goal scorer Pedri González, and went on to play 22 minutes plus stoppage time. A September 7th he will never forget.
