Jorge de Frutos: From Navares de Enmedio to the World

On the memorable evening of Sunday, 7 September 2025, Jorge de Frutos realised the dream shared by countless children who aspire to become footballers: representing his country at senior international level. “I’m very happy. I feel immense joy, and now it’s time to enjoy it.”

The native of Navares de Enmedio entered the pitch in the 68th minute, replacing two-goal hero Pedri, and experienced first-hand Spain’s resounding victory over Türkiye. In doing so, De Frutos became the 25th player to make his debut under head coach Luis de la Fuente. “It was a very complete performance by the team. With these players, everything becomes much easier.”

The debut shirt, covered in autographs and dedications, already has a special destination: “I’ll take it to my father so he can display it in the bar he runs in my village, Navares de Enmedio, so it will always be there.”
