Princess of Asturias and Infanta Doña Sofía to accompany the National Team for the Grand Final
Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias and her sister Infanta Doña Sofía will support the National Team in the grand final of the UEFA European Championships in Switzerland, to be held on Sunday, 27 July, at 18:00 at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
Both are due to be there to witness firsthand the clash between England and Spain, a rematch of the World Cup final held in Australia and New Zealand. On that occasion, the Spanish National Team became World Champions and earned the star that now shines above the badge on their shirt. This time around, they have the chance to secure the only title still missing from their trophy cabinet, and to do so against the reigning European Champions.
Leonor de Borbón and her sister Sofía made their first official trip abroad, representing the Royal Family, for a Spain match. That occasion was in July 2022, at the European Championships in England, in Brentford, to attend the match against Denmark, which the national side won 0–1, securing a place in the quarter-finals. On this occasion, they return together to watch, support and cheer on Montse Tomé’s team as they play in their first European Championships final.
Infanta Sofía was also present at the World Cup final in Australia and New Zealand, alongside HM Queen Doña Letizia. Following the epic victory over Germany achieved yesterday in Zurich, and England’s win over Italy on Tuesday in Geneva, both teams will face off at St. Jakob-Park in Basel for the chance to lift the coveted continental trophy.
