Just as it did six days ago, Atlanta once again gave the Spanish national team a warm and enthusiastic welcome upon its arrival. Dozens of supporters of all ages gathered outside The Whitley, the team’s hotel during its stay in Georgia, eager to greet the players and coaching staff.

The squad travelled by road from Chattanooga, covering the nearly 200 kilometres between the two cities in just over two hours. Before departing, the national team completed its final training session of the week at Baylor School, which has served as its base camp in Tennessee throughout the tournament.

In addition, centre-back Pau Cubarsí spoke to the media in a packed press room, with more than 100 journalists in attendance at the team’s media centre.

Spain will return to training on Saturday at Kennesaw State University from 10:30 a.m. local time. One hour earlier, several players will be available to the media in the mixed zone at the same venue. Later in the day, head coach Luis de la Fuente will address both national and international journalists during the official pre-match press conference at Atlanta Stadium, scheduled for 4:45 p.m.

Spain will be aiming for its first victory of the tournament on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. in mainland Spain), having opened its World Cup campaign with a draw. Saudi Arabia will be the opponent in the second round of Group H fixtures, where all four teams currently sit level on one point, making the encounter a significant step in the race for qualification to the knockout stage.
