Just a few hours after arriving at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas, the 25 players called up by Sonia Bermúdez were already out on the pitch, pulling on their boots and making the most of their first training session on Pitch D.

Next Tuesday, 14 April, Spain will play their third Group A3 qualifier on the road to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. England await. The clash between the two sides is fast becoming — if it isn’t already — a modern classic. This will be their fourth meeting in the space of a year, this time with direct qualification for the World Cup at stake, and with both teams level on points in the group.

With Wembley as the immediate focus, Sonia Bermúdez led the team’s first session, beginning to fine-tune key physical, tactical and technical aspects that will be crucial in securing the six points on offer in this international window.

Shortly after 7pm, and following earlier gym work, the squad completed their session on the pitch on a cool April evening in Madrid. They will return to training tomorrow at 11:00.
