For the third time, Jeddah — the coastal city on the Red Sea — will host the Spanish Super Cup from January 7 to 11. This 42nd edition features FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, Atlético de Madrid, and Athletic Club.

Hansi Flick’s side, the defending champions and the most successful club in the competition’s history with 15 titles, were the first to arrive. FC Barcelona landed this Monday, January 5, at King Abdulaziz International Airport just after 8:30 p.m. (local time), before heading to The Ritz-Carlton, their base for the coming days.

Meanwhile, Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Club — four-time Super Cup winners — touched down at around 10:50 p.m. and then made their way to the Park Hyatt Hotel in the Saudi city.

On Tuesday, both Barça and Athletic will carry out their pre-match activities at the Alinma Stadium ahead of their clash, which, as last year, corresponds to the tournament’s semifinals. Coaches and players are scheduled to appear at press conferences at 5:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., while the official training sessions will take place at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
