La Cartuja Stadium in Seville to Host the Next Three Copa del Rey MAPFRE Finals
The Royal Spanish Football Federation has officially confirmed that Seville’s Estadio de La Cartuja will serve as the venue for the Copa del Rey MAPFRE finals in 2026, 2027, and 2028.
The announcement was made by RFEF President Rafael Louzán during an official appearance in Seville, where he was accompanied by the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, and the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz.
The announcement was made in the Andalusian capital by the President of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, during a public appearance following the Board of Directors meeting. He was accompanied by the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, and the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz.
During the announcement, an impressive panoramic skyline of Seville served as the backdrop. President Louzán began by stating:“We are in this magnificent city, and the RFEF Board of Directors has just designated Seville and La Cartuja Stadium as the official venue for the Copa del Rey final. I want to thank the institutions for their efforts, which have made possible what is a historic agreement. This city has it all. We are delighted and fully convinced that hosting this extraordinary event again will be a source of joy for the entire city.
The Copa del Rey continues to grow in prominence, and sponsors are increasingly satisfied with their involvement. This comes at a moment when, for the first time in history, Spain is currently ranked No. 1 in the FIFA standings in both men’s and women’s football. This fills us with pride and unites us. For the RFEF and for Spanish football, this is the most significant agreement ever reached regarding the Copa del Rey final.
I want to congratulate the entire RFEF technical team, as well as those who submitted the proposal from the Regional Government of Andalusia and the City Council of Seville. May this agreement continue benefiting the citizens of Andalusia and, of course, the people of Seville. We are now looking forward to a great final in a few months.”
The President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, also addressed the media, expressing gratitude to the RFEF and stating:“My thanks to the RFEF for valuing Seville as a premier venue for the Copa del Rey final. Without close collaboration between the City Council and the Regional Government, many of the major events hosted in Seville would not be possible. This is excellent news — we will once again enjoy top-level football.
There is a strong synergy between the RFEF and Seville — a relationship built on trust and shared enthusiasm. The Spanish national team is at home in Seville. La Cartuja has already hosted numerous major sporting events and continues to receive strong support from the city. We congratulate the RFEF for this incredible sporting moment: it is extraordinary to be No. 1 in the world simultaneously in both men’s and women’s football.
La Cartuja is one of the most important stadiums in Spain. We have expanded its capacity and invested in improvements, and we will continue doing so ahead of the 2030 World Cup. The stadium generates great value for the city and the region, and Andalusia is fully committed. Seville is a football city with great history, strong professional clubs, and a vibrant grassroots culture. The RFEF has made the right decision, and we are proud to be part of it.”
Finally, the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, expressed the city’s gratitude:“I would like to thank the RFEF for holding its Board of Directors meeting here in Seville to make this decision. We are sincerely grateful for the trust placed in our city. Seville will not fail — we are experienced organisers of major events. We have an excellent stadium that will be in optimal condition ahead of the upcoming final on April 25.”
With this agreement, Seville will remain the host city for the Copa del Rey MAPFRE final for the next three years, continuing a tradition that already includes hosting the previous seven title-deciding matches — six of which were held at La Cartuja.
