The president of the RFEF visits the refurbishments works at La Cartuja stadium
With the refurbishment, which will be unveiled for the final of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, the Seville stadium will increase its capacity to more than 70,000 spectators.

With work in full swing in Seville, the La Cartuja stadium is having the finishing touches to its refurbishment work done and the president of the RFEF visited the stadium this Wednesday morning, accompanied by local and regional authorities.
Rafael Louzán was able to see first-hand the progress of the work already completed in terms of foundations, structures and new interior design in various parts of the stadium. Over the coming weeks, the seats, the drainage system and, finally, the playing surface are to be installed.
All of this is being done to expand the capacity beyond 70,000 spectators and fans will be able to enjoy the improvements for the first time at the final of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE on Saturday 26 April.
After his visit, the President of the RFEF expressed his satisfaction, declaring that ‘we are very pleased to see that the works being carried out are going in the right direction and that a timetable that was not easy to meet is being met’.
Louzán underlined the support that the Andalusian capital has from the RFEF, as ‘Seville has experience in organising big matches and has our support so that it can host some of the upcoming finals of European competitions, as well as the matches in the World Cup finals, which will also be held in Malaga, another venue in this region. The balance could not be more encouraging for the whole of Andalusia’.
The Andalusian Regional Minister for Culture and Sport, Patricia del Pozo, thanked the President of the RFEF for his visit. During the day the RFEF President was also accompanied during by the President of the Royal Andalusian Football Federation, Pedro Curtido, the Mayor of Santiponce, Juan José Ortega, the Director General for Sport of the Andalusian Regional Government and President of the Sociedad Estadio La Cartuja, Isabel Sánchez, the Sports Delegate of the Seville City Council, Silvia Pozo, as well as the Urban Planning Manager of the Seville City Council, Fernando Vázquez and other people responsible for the refurbishment works at the stadium, which, from this coming April will become the stadium with the largest capacity in Andalusia, entering the select group of football stadiums with such as largest capacity on a continental level.
