On April 18, La Cartuja Stadium in Seville will host the Copa del Rey final, where Club Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad will face each other once again in a cup final — just as they did in the 1986/1987 season.

Atlético de Madrid earned a very comfortable result in the first leg, which they then had to defend tooth and nail in Barcelona. There, FC Barcelona came close to pulling off a comeback but ultimately fell just short, allowing Diego Pablo Simeone’s side to reach the final after thirteen years of waiting.

Real Sociedad, meanwhile, edged the first leg of the Basque derby against Athletic Club thanks to a goal from Turrientes. But they couldn’t relax until the closing stages of the return leg, when Mikel Oyarzabal sealed their place from the penalty spot.
