Oviedo Hosts Official Presentation of Spain vs Czech Republic at the Carlos Tartiere

The Carlos Tartiere Stadium, home of Real Oviedo, hosted the official presentation of the international fixture between Spain and the Czech Republic. The match, which forms part of the third matchday of the UEFA Nations League, will take place on 3 October at 20:45.

Oviedo is preparing to welcome the newly crowned world champions eleven years after their last visit, when Spain defeated Slovakia 2-0 in a European Championship qualifier.

Ahead of kick-off at the Carlos Tartiere, the city hosted the official presentation of the fixture, attended by Luis de la Fuente, Spain head coach; José Ramón Cuetos Lobos, president of the Royal Football Federation of the Principality of Asturias; Alfredo Canteli, Mayor of Oviedo; and Guillermo Peláez Álvarez, Regional Minister for Finance, Justice and European Affairs. Martín Pérez, president of Real Oviedo, and Jesús Martínez, president of the Pachuca Group, also hosted the event.

The presentation began in the press room at the Real Oviedo stadium and concluded with an exchange of gifts on the home side’s pitch. Luis de la Fuente, who spoke last, expressed his excitement at returning to the city, noting: “I have never managed a match here as a national team coach at any level.” He also highlighted the importance of Asturian players to the national team over the years. “I’m delighted to play in such a football-loving city,” he summed up.

Oviedo Mayor Alfredo Canteli began by expressing his admiration for the world champion coach and insisted that “it is a privilege for us, and we are delighted and grateful.” “To everyone who made it possible for Spain to play in Oviedo, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Canteli concluded.

Guillermo Peláez, Regional Minister for Finance, Justice and European Affairs, congratulated all those involved for “highlighting the importance of institutional representation in making an official Spain match possible.” “It is an event that fills the whole of Asturias with excitement,” he said.

José Ramón Cuetos Lobo, president of the Asturian Football Federation, concluded by expressing his gratitude: “It is an honour to be able to take part in this presentation.”

The event concluded in an atmosphere of excitement and admiration with a family photograph on the pitch at the Carlos Tartiere, where Spain will face the Czech Republic on 3 October.
