RCDE Stadium to host Spain vs Egypt
Four years on, Spain will return to Barcelona to play a friendly fixture at the RCDE Stadium, home of RCD Espanyol. The match will take place on Tuesday, March 31, against Egypt, who finished fourth in the most recent Africa Cup of Nations and are one of the most successful national teams in the competition’s history.
Following the announcement of La Cerámica as the venue for the clash against Serbia, the Espanyol ground—located in Cornellà-El Prat and with a capacity of 38,529—will stage the final fixture for Luis de la Fuente’s squad during the upcoming international break, with both matches serving as preparation for the next FIFA World Cup.
The only previous meeting between Spain and Egypt dates back to June 3, 2006, when the two sides faced off at the Martínez Valero Stadium in Elche.
The national team head coach will announce the squad list for the fixtures in Vila-real and Barcelona this Friday, March 20, at 11:30.
