Rafael Louzán Presents Spain’s World Cup Winners’ Medals to the Presidents of the Regional Football Federations
The RFEF holds its meeting in Gran Canaria this Saturday as part of the centenary celebrations of the Royal Inter-Island Football Federation of Las Palmas
The Spanish football family came together on Saturday morning for another show of unity around the collective triumph represented by Spain’s World Cup victory. RFEF President Rafael Louzán chose to share the achievement with representatives of the country’s regional football federations, stressing during the meeting that “this success has been achieved in large part thanks to the work carried out by the regional federations.”
On the island of Gran Canaria, where the Royal Inter-Island Football Federation of Las Palmas is celebrating its first 100 years this weekend, the RFEF president presented the heads of the regional federations from across Spain with the World Cup winners’ medals earned by the Spanish national team.
Less than two months after the historic victory over Argentina in New Jersey, the presidents and general secretaries of the regional federations posed alongside the original trophy brought back from the United States. Over the coming months, the trophy will embark on a tour across the country, allowing fans to share in and celebrate this historic achievement.
During the meeting of federation presidents held in the Canary Islands, the RFEF, led by President Rafael Louzán, also approved an institutional declaration expressing the solidarity, encouragement, support and commitment of the entire Spanish football community towards the people of Ceuta.

President Rafael Louzán and Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente have visited the Spanish city, presenting the World Cup trophy to Regional President Juan Jesús Vivas alongside representatives of Ceuta’s society and football community: “During the World Cup, Spain came together with one voice, and now is the time to show that we are all on the same team. We stand with Ceuta,” Louzán said.
