Spain Begin Preparations for the FIFA World Cup Final
At 11:00 local time, Spain began their first training session in New Jersey as preparations got underway for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final against Argentina, which will be played on Sunday 19 July.
After a well-earned rest day, the Spain delegation arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport late on Wednesday evening before returning to work on Thursday with their focus firmly on the match that will decide the world champions.
As has become customary throughout the tournament, the opening 15 minutes of the session were open to both the media in attendance and supporters following live through the Spanish national team's official channels. Head coach Luis de la Fuente had all 26 players available for training.
Spain trained at the Melanie Lane Training Grounds in Whippany, the current training base of the New York Red Bulls, one of Major League Soccer's leading clubs. The facility is also home to New York Red Bulls II, the club's academy and its youth development programmes.
The complex will serve as Spain's operational base throughout their stay in New Jersey, right up until their final training session before the FIFA World Cup Final.
