Spain enjoy warm reception at first training session
With more than a thousand supporters in attendance and the stands packed to capacity, Spain trained for the first time in front of their fans, who turned the Campo A into a sea of red. The passionate crowd, as loyal as they were vocal, roared the team on throughout the session.
The players were able to feel the affection of their supporters, who chanted their names from start to finish. The training session was also marked by the return of key figures such as Dani Carvajal and Rodrigo Hernández, back with the national team after a year’s absence.
Another name drawing attention was Jesús Rodríguez of Como 1907, who is experiencing his first call-up to the senior national team. The forward received a rapturous welcome, signing autographs and posing for photos with fans.
Four members of the Spain Under-21 squad — Fer López, Rodrigo Mendoza, Fran González and Gonzalo García — also trained with the senior team under Luis de la Fuente’s guidance.
The squad will return to the training pitch at Campo A on Tuesday at 10:15am before travelling to Sofia to face Bulgaria on Thursday, 4 September, at 20:45.
