At 19:15 local time, the Iberia flight carrying the Spanish national team landed at Luton Airport, north of London, having departed from Madrid.

Once in the English capital, the delegation split into two groups by road. Luis de la Fuente and Rodrigo Hernández headed to Wembley Stadium, the venue for Saturday’s match, to attend the official pre-match press conference. Meanwhile, the team bus travelled to the Hilton Hotel, where the entire squad will stay during their time in the city.

Spanish fans were waiting there and gave the internationals a warm welcome with applause, chants and displays of affection on the eve of one of the key fixtures on the calendar. Wembley is ready to provide a spectacular atmosphere for Spain’s UEFA Nations League opener.

The stadium also holds fond memories for the national team. In 2018, also in the Nations League, Spain defeated England 1-2 in the most recent meeting between the two sides at the London venue, thanks to goals from Saúl Ñíguez and Rodrigo Moreno.
