Despite the cold, windy, and rainy afternoon in Madrid, the international players received the warmth of dozens of boys and girls who came to Field A at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas to watch the team’s open training session led by Sonia Bermúdez.

At 19:00, amid cheers and applause, the players stepped onto the pitch to begin preparing for the upcoming double encounter against Germany: the final of the UEFA Women’s Nations League. The supporters, fully aware of the importance of their role, continued to encourage the players without rest, giving them a much-needed boost of energy ahead of a final in which they aim to defend the title they won last February in La Cartuja against France.

There is nothing like feeling the embrace of your fans—the warmth of their presence—and the players showed their appreciation by heading straight to meet them after training. They took photos, exchanged small gifts, and signed all kinds of items: flags, balls, shirts… any surface served as a souvenir bearing the autograph of a favourite player. Faces filled with excitement, trembling hands from nerves, and shouts of joy were the defining notes in a packed stand, gathered to support Spain before facing the German side. In this final camp of the year, the World Champions and current FIFA No. 1 returned to the Residence inspired, energized, and with an extra dose of motivation to defend their title in the second final they will play in just four months.

Sonia Bermúdez’s players have thus begun their physical preparation for the matches against Germany—first on 28 November at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion in Kaiserslautern, and then on Tuesday, 2 December, at the Metropolitano Stadium. Supporters watched attentively from the stands, witnessing first-hand the effort, determination, and spirit of self-improvement that characterise this team.
