The Road to the Round of 32 Begins
Less than 20 hours after securing top spot in Group H with a 1–0 victory over Uruguay in Guadalajara, the Spanish national team returned to the training pitch at Baylor School, its base camp throughout the FIFA World Cup group stage.
At 6:00 p.m. local time, the players took to the field for a recovery session, with the opening 15 minutes open to members of the media.
As the squad went through its customary rondos, the Mayor of Chattanooga, Tim Kelly, presented the Keys to the City to Aitor Karanka, Luis de la Fuente and Antonio Limones, respectively Spain’s Team Director, Head Coach, and Technical Director of Development and the Senior Men’s National Team, as well as the delegation’s travel manager.
With the group stage now behind them, Spain’s full attention turns to the Round of 32. Their next opponents will be confirmed later tonight following the Group J fixture between Algeria and Austria, to be played in Kansas City.
Spain’s Round of 32 match will take place on 2 July in Los Angeles, kicking off at 12:00 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. CEST), as Luis de la Fuente’s side begins the knockout phase of its FIFA World Cup campaign.
