Just over two months after reaching the pinnacle of world football by lifting our second World Cup title, Luis de la Fuente’s side gathered this Tuesday, 22 September, at Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas to begin their first training camp of the season. An intense international window awaits, with the first four UEFA Nations League matches ahead.

The 26 players selected by the Spain head coach, with the exception of the injured Pedro Porro, have arrived at the federation’s headquarters to prepare for the matches against England and Czech Republic, as well as the two encounters with Croatia. Iván Fresneda, who was initially called up by David Gordo for the Under-21s, has been selected to join the World Cup champions’ squad.

Although the excitement and sense of achievement from winning football’s greatest prize remain very much alive, the calendar is already picking up pace as a new season begins, with Luis de la Fuente leading the project, having extended his tenure as Spain head coach through 2032.

This afternoon at 19:00, Spain will train in an open session on Field A at Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas, giving fans the opportunity to welcome and support the internationals as they return to action. Admission will be free until capacity is reached, with access to the venue from 18:00. For those unable to attend in person, the Spain national team’s official channels will broadcast the session live as part of special programming.

With the World Cup still very much fresh in the memory, the national team is embarking on a new era filled with anticipation.
