This Is the First Squad Announcement Since Becoming World Champions

Spain are back in action after winning the 2026 World Cup. Luis de la Fuente’s side will now face their first four matches of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, with a demanding schedule featuring several high-profile encounters. Spain will begin their campaign next Saturday, 26 September, against England at Wembley Stadium, with kick-off at 8:45pm.

Three days later, on Tuesday 29 September, Spain will host Croatia at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in Seville, also at 8:45pm. The national team will return to the Sevilla FC stadium 11 years after their previous visit, when they face the Balkan side. It will be Spain’s 26th match at the venue, with their last appearance coming in March 2015, when they beat Ukraine 1-0 in a European Championship qualifier.

The third match will take place on Saturday 3 October. Spain will face the Czech Republic at Oviedo’s Carlos Tartiere, with kick-off at 8:45pm. The national team has not played at the stadium since 2015, when they defeated Slovakia 2-0 in a European Championship qualifier. The first round of fixtures will conclude on Tuesday 6 October with another meeting against Croatia, this time at Stadion Poljud in Split, also at 8:45pm.

From Ceuta, accompanied by Ceuta-born players and referees, the Spain head coach announced the squad.

The world champions will play four matches in just over ten days, returning to competitive action with the aim of making a strong start to their campaign in a new edition of the UEFA Nations League — a competition Spain won in 2022/23 and finished runners-up in during 2020/21.
