We Join Luis de la Fuente on His Big Night
Before all eyes and cameras turned in one direction, one of our cameras met up with Luis de la Fuente at Ciudad del Fútbol to accompany him on what would become a historic journey.
Spain’s head coach travelled from the Federation’s headquarters to the London Palladium Theatre, venue for the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he was nominated for Coach of the Season.
“Today is an important, special day. You set off feeling excited. To enjoy an event of this magnitude is incredible,” he said during the journey.
The Spanish coach was chosen to receive the prestigious award and write his name into the history of world football.
“I know where I come from, I know where I’m going, and I know who I’m making this journey with,” he said moments before his name was announced at the London theatre.
“It’s a day to enjoy and recognise the work that has gone into this over such a long time. I’m always very well supported by the coaching staff and the players. The RFEF has always backed me throughout this process,” Luis de la Fuente concluded from the red carpet.
