A year since reaching paradise

On August 20, 2023, the Spanish National Team wrote the most beautiful chapter of their story, being crowned World Champions for the first time.

There are dates that are impossible to forget, and winning the World Cup is one of them. That August 20, 2023, is etched into the memory of an entire country. Olga Carmona's goal in the final against England is now part of the history of the Spanish National Team, a memory that today becomes one year old.

On July 7, 2023, the Spanish team landed in New Zealand with a dream that would soon become reality. It wasn't until July 21 that the group stage and the World Cup journey began. Spain managed to qualify for the Last 16 after defeating Costa Rica and Zambia. The match against Japan was the only slip-up for the team, which grew stronger against Switzerland in the first knockout round

On August 5, Spain shone on the pitch, comfortably overcoming the Swiss. Their path was not easy though, as there are many obstacles to overcome on the road to glory. An example of this was the quarter-final match against the Netherlands. Regulation time was not enough to decide the teams, and everything was decided in extra time. In the 111th minute, Salma Paralluelo paved the way to the semi-final with a powerful left-footed strike.

The semi-final against Sweden once again highlighted the competitiveness of this World Cup. It was in the final minute of the match when a shot from outside the box from Olga Carmona took Spain to the grand final. And there, in Stadium Australia, the most beautiful page of our football history was written. Tere connected with Mariona, who spotted the lightning run of Olga Carmona. She charged down the left side and unleashed an unstoppable left-footed shot. That goal is imprinted in the memory of all Spaniards and stitched a star into the history of the Spanish National Team.

A year later, we are still WORLD CHAMPIONS!
