Arrasate: ‘The end tarnishes the performance’.
The RCD Mallorca coach has assessed his team's defeat (3-0) against Real Madrid in the second semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup.
Jagoba Arrasate appeared before the media in Jeddah with a clear message: ‘The end tarnishes the performance’ for the team from the Balearic Islands. "We competed with dignity, we were 1-0 down, hoping for the equaliser but we ran out of energy,’ explained the RCD Mallorca coach.
The Bizkaia-born coach pointed out that his players ‘gave their all’ during the game, and were ‘annoyed with those two final goals’. ‘The first feeling is that the equaliser could have come in the 90th minute and in the end it ended 3-0,’ said Arrasate. ‘We put in great effort, we wanted to compete, the fans made their presence felt... we showed that we are not here by chance’, he summed up.

Jagoba Arrasate, asked how his team reacted after Real Madrid's first goal, considered that ‘they were superior’ after that moment. A goal that, moreover, ‘hurts’: ‘It comes from us losing the ball, from several rebounds... it hurts, both the goal and the how it came’, he concluded.
On a positive note, Arrasate pointed out that his team can have a good second half of the season. ‘Against teams of this level, we are still a little bit behind, but we have a lot of things to be positive about, 'he reflected, going into a new phase in the season for the Balearic side. Only one competition, but with ‘a lot of stimuli’ for the coach.
