Montse Tomé: "Details are key from this stage of the competition onwards."
In just over 24 hours, Spain and Italy face each other in the third match of the European Championships in Switzerland, the last of the group stage. The Spanish team, who sit at the top of Group B, will fight to qualify for the quarter-finals as group winners. Currently two points ahead of the Italians, Montse Tomé is aware of the toughness of the opponent they face tomorrow at the Wankdorf Stadium: "Italy are a very competitive team; it's in their DNA. Beating them has always been difficult. They try to play direct football, their second balls are key to them launching attacks. We have always made a point of respecting our opponents; every match is a world unto itself, so we're not thinking about being favourites."

Regarding Aitana, the coach acknowledged: "She's fine, recovered. She's ready to compete. We've done a very good job with her with the medical team; she has an enviable level of fitness. She would have played more time against Portugal. Tomorrow, you'll see what she brings." She was also asked about Patri: "Patri is fundamental for Spain. She's come back from a difficult period, and her return has been gradual. Now, she's feeling very good; for me, she's the best central midfielder in the world. It's not an easy position because it doesn't get much outside recognition, but her personality and humility help her."
The mix of veterans and young players within the team is a very positive aspect for Tomé: "The team has very positive energy; there's a very good and professional working atmosphere. It's reflected on the pitch. Our captains take on the role of showing the others how important hard work, effort, and concentration are. They are an example to the squad. The young players bring joy, fearlessness, and enjoyment when they play."
Being self-critical, Montse recalled the goals conceded in the previous match: "The goals we conceded were from a set pieces. We don't have a player who is two metres tall, so it can be difficult. We've tried to correct it, we'll continue to improve. The other goal was from a quick transition, so we do need to be better at picking up that second ball. We've talked about it; we know that details are key at this stage of the tournament. We can and we will improve it."
🎙️ "Seguir mejorando desde la victoria es fundamental. El equipo está preparado para competir".

Finally, Montse once again highlighted the good atmosphere within the squad: "It doesn't matter which player comes in, Spain always play the same way. Everyone is motivated and it's normal that they want to play. They are accepting playing or not very well. Tomorrow, we are going to field the best eleven possible." With a positive message of encouragement, she concluded: "Winning means confidence and continuing to improve from victory, and that is important at the highest level. The team are ready to win and get the three points."
