After winning his first title as FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick appeared in the press room at the Al Jawhara stadium in Jeddah and pronounced himself to be ‘really proud’ of his players. ‘I think we played a great game today, performed at a great level, and everything went perfectly for us,’ he said.

The coach highlighted the importance to the match because of the confidence it can give his players for the rest of the season; and emphasised the importance of having remained solid after the sending off of their goalkeeper, Szczęsny. ‘What you can be most proud of, despite all the goals we have conceded, is our defensive work,’ he said.

Hansi Flick emphasised that this second victory against Real Madrid under his leadership has led to the winning of a title as important as the Super Cup; and expressed that he feels he has ‘a great team’ despite the youthfulness of the squad. ‘The most important thing is to continue together, to keep learning and to learn from everything,’ he said.

The German coach pointed out that his team ‘did a great job; and we knew how to control the game by taking advantage of the mistakes they made’; and he praised the players who came off the bench. ‘I have to thank them all, they were all ready when they were needed most after the sending off... they all contributed to the team,’ he said.
