Gattusso: "I am very proud of my team"
The Valencia CF coach stressed that his team had shown "quality and mentality" in the semi-final despite their "youth"
Valencia CF coach Gerardo Gattusso spoke to the media in the press room after the penalty shoot-out that make them lose and said he was "very proud of the team and the game they played". "I think this is the way; they are a young team, with quality and mentality, and today we have demonstrated it on the pitch", he said.

Being able to control Real Madrid for 120 minutes was one of the aspects Gattusso highlighted. He was asked if his team was better than their opponents, but the Valencia coach said he wasn't sure about that. "We played well and had chances to score, but so did Real Madrid; it was a very open game," he said.
Gerardo Gattusso had compliments for both goalkeepers, both for Courtois ("we knew he is a great goalkeeper") and for Valencian goalkeeper Mamardashvili ("he made four or five very good saves"). They had been decisive in a game that was even on the scoreboard and ended up being decided from the penalty spot.
