The first-leg matches provided Spanish football fans with two incredible encounters between four of the most successful teams in the history of the tournament. The Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys hosted a goal fest between FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. The Madrid side got out of the blocks with a bang, taking a 2-0 lead within six minutes thanks to goals from Julián Álvarez and Griezmann. However, Barcelona managed to recover from the early Atlético onslaught, turning the scoreline around with goals from Pedri, Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, and Lewandowski, putting them 4-2 up with 20 minutes left. Yet, the first leg was far from over. Marcos Llorente, in the 84th minute, and Sørloth, in the 93rd, leveled the score and left the tie wide open for the return leg this Wednesday at the Metropolitano (at 21:30, live on La 1 and Movistar Plus+).
The other semi-final, which will be decided at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, pits Real Madrid against Real Sociedad. The Madrid side won the first leg at Anoeta thanks to a decisive goal from Endrick. Real Madrid will be aiming for their 41st Copa del Rey final, while Real Sociedad will be fighting to reach the final for the seventh time in their history. The second leg is to take place this Tuesday at 21:30, live on La 1 and Movistar Plus+.
