MATCH REPORT | Osasuna's extra-time heroics earn them a ticket to their second final (1-1)

A goal in extra time by Pablo Ibáñez catapults the Navarrese team to the Copa  title match.

This Tuesday, CA Osasuna rose to Copa glory in a San Mames Cathedral with 51,444 spectators, a record number of spectators for the Bilbao stadium.

The lions were carried by their fans, although the red and white resistance was worth their historic qualification in extra time.

The 1-0 scoreline from the first leg at El Sadar left everything open from the start. Ernesto Valverde's team's push forged the impression that the match would be evenly matched.

After several chances, after the half hour mark, a Muniain cross from the right was headed by Vesga for the arrival of Iñaki Williams in the heart of the area with a precise finish.

The red and white winger was at ease on the San Mamés pitch, setting up his brother Nico after the restart for what could have been the winning goal for the Biscayan side.

Athletic did not succeed in that opportunity, just as in other clear shots by Iñigo Martínez, Sancet and Raúl García, who ultimately could not avoid the extra time.

Osasuna stayed  alive until the decisive moment and with fresh legs thanks to Arrasate's changes. One of them, the youth team player Pablo Ibáñez masterfully executed a cross from Moncayola when penalties seemed inevitable.

The final 1-1, which added to the victory in the first leg, allows CA Osasuna to once again qualify for the final of the Copa del Rey 18 years after the first one. FC Barcelona or Real Madrid are already on the horizon for the Navarrese team on May 6 at La Cartuja in Seville.
