MATCH REPORT | An aggressive and determined Scotland wins in Glasgow (2-0)

The Spanish national team, despite dominating the statistics of the match, could not score in their second match of the European Championship qualifiers.

Two precise goals scored at the beginning of each half decided the match at Hampden Park on Tuesday between the Scots and the Spaniards.

Scott McTominay was on target in both halves to bring the three points home after a game in which the Spanish National Team had more possession and more shots on goal.

Luis de la Fuente almost completely reshuffled the team that had beaten Norway three days earlier in Malaga with eight new players in his eleven, including David García as debutant.

After just seven minutes, luck was on the home national team after an unfortunate slip in defence by Pedro Porro; captain Robertson took advantage of it and McTominay fired a shot from inside the area that past Kepa.

Spain enjoyed 68 % possession and doubled Scotland's attacks.

The goal spurred Spain on and, with Joselu as the main point of the attack; the striker came close to equalising with two headers, the second of which hit Gunn's crossbar.

The Spanish National Team faced a very aggressive Scotland. Mikel Merino and Rodrigo Hernandez with Dani Ceballos between the lines tried to find the gaps in Steve Clark's team.

In the second half, Luis de la Fuente brought on Carvajal and Nico Williams in search of depth, but soon Tierney's touchline action helped McTominay to score the second goal.

With a large lead, the British team was back with quick and dangerous counter attacks. However, Spanish chances did not make a dent despite the good ones generated by Iago Aspas, who also came off the bench.

The result was 2-0 and Scotland is now the leader of the qualifying group against a Spain national team, which is now looking towards the UEFA Nations League title in the Netherlands in June.
