Montse Tomé: "I feel very proud to lead this team"
Montse Tomé appeared at a press conference in front of the media after an epic comeback against Sweden (5-3) in which the national team recorded their record home attendance: "We started the game conceding from a corner kick which put us at an early disadvantage and set the tone for the start of the match. Despite the goals, we had the ball and clear ideas on how to play. We scored the first goal and with a three-one deficit at half-time we tried to correct some aspects of our play. We were doing many things right and in the second half we came out with everything firing on all cylinders. Then came the goals.
Tomé explained that the group's talent was the key to turning the game around in such difficult circumstances: "They are the ones who succeeded. We are very lucky to have this talent that has the ability to change the game at any moment. At half-time we looked for solutions and we managed to keep Sweden pinned back in their own half.
Of course, she didn't want to miss the opportunity to thank the fans at La Rosaleda for their support throughout the ninety minutes, with the fans gave their all to cheer Spain on when they needed it most: "Congratulations to the players and the staff for the work they've put in this week. I want to thank the fans for breaking the attendance record. They helped us at times and to get boost from the fans when you’re 1-3 down is a massive help. Absolute gratitude to everyone in the stands and to those who watched from home".
Finally, she was proud to be at the helm of the national team, surrounded by great talents both on and off the pitch: "I'm proud to lead this team. We have players who are at a very good level and I'm grateful to be surrounded by people with me who are also at a very high level.
