Montse Tomé: “Sweden are a tough opponent, but we’ll go all out”
Montse Tomé attended the draw for the final phase of the UEFA Women’s Nations League held this afternoon at UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland). Spain are to face Sweden in the semi-finals over two legs, in a new tournament format this year, on the 24th and 28th of October.
The Spain coach analysed the Swedish side after the event: “I think they’re a good opponent. Sweden are a physical team with several players in our Spanish league like Rölfo or Angeldal and others who have been here, like Asllani. There are various players we know very well, and we know that up front they have a unique and decisive player in Blackstenius.”
And she added: “They’re a team that are dangerous from set-pieces, a tough opponent but we’ll go all out.”
Montse Tomé’s side are defending champions, having been the first team to win the inaugural edition of the UEFA Women’s Nations League. On this occasion, both the semi-finals and the final will be played over two legs, on which the Spanish coach commented: “This presents scenarios we need to take into account. It’s a team that in the qualifying phase had to get past sides like Italy and faced tough matches. The second leg will be in Sweden. We can’t afford to underestimate any team in Europe — every one is going to be difficult.”
