Spain to play Sweden in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Nations League
At midday this Friday, 6 June 2025, the draw for the final phase of the UEFA Women’s Nations League took place, a competition in which Spain are the defending champions. Montse Tomé’s side won the first-ever Nations League trophy and are now set to defend their trophy in a new competition format, as the semi-finals and final will be played over two legs.
The draw has determined that Sweden are the Spanish Women’s National Team’s opponents in the semi-finals. Spain are scheduled to play the first leg at home on 24 October and the return leg away from home on 28 October, notwithstanding any changes. Sweden were the national team’s opponents in the World Cup semi-finals, where our team emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.
The first semi-final will be contested between Germany and France. Therefore, the potential opponent for Spain in the Nations League final or in the third-place play-off would come from that match. In a hypothetical final, the Spanish National Team would play the first leg away and the return leg at home on 28 November and 2 December, respectively, as long as there are no date modifications.
Spain reached this final phase by topping Group A3 with 15 points and 21 goals scored. In their group, they faced England, Belgium, and Portugal.
Now, with thoughts already firmly fixed on this summer’s Euros, the Spanish National Team know who they must face in order to reach another final, which, for the first time, will also be played over two legs.
