The thrashing of the Belgian side (1-5) in Leuven keeps Spain at the top of Group A3 in the UEFA Women’s Nations League qualifying phase, with a two-point lead over England. A complete performance that Montse Tomé described straight after the final whistle as follows: "It was a match we had to win. We suffered at first and they were coming off a win against England. We’ve worked this week to be very solid defensively and cut off their transitions. The team was very solid in that aspect. The match was under control, we did an excellent job. The team was very solid. In possession we were very good, we managed to score five goals and we must congratulate the team and let them enjoy it. Now, it´s time to focus on the next one."

Tuesday’s match against England is key and a clash of the highest level, as the Spain coach said: "Every match is different. England are a great opponent. As a team, we respect all our rivals. We had to know how to play this type of match, which isn’t easy. England are a very demanding opponent and it will be a different kind of match. Now the players will need to recover with the help of our staff. We’ve secured the three points and now for England."

She also wanted to say a few words about the debutant, Lucía Corrales: "She came on with confidence. Being here with the squad means you have chances to get on, she has a long way to go, she can cover the whole wing and joins the attack a lot. I saw her doing well, eager, bold, trying to take on her opponent one-on-one. One of the things Lucía has is that cross, she tried it, congratulations to her and it's a joy to have her with us."

Before finishing, Montse Tomé encouraged fans to fill the RCDE Stadium for the final and decisive group match against the English side: "I encourage all of Cornellà, Barcelona, Catalonia and Spain to come and watch what is sure to be a top-level match. We want them to enjoy the game and help us reach the Nations League finals. We're already focused on the next match."
