On route to the Grand Final of La Copa del Rey

Legendary representatives of the two finalists, Julio Salinas and Pepe, have transported the trophy to Seville aboard a RENFE AVE train, with the RFEF and RENFE making this edition the most sustainable in the competition's history.

At 15:25 (Spanish mainland time) on Wednesday, 23rd April, Seville’s Santa Justa station welcomed a distinguished passenger.

His Majesty’s Copa del Rey trophy, which will be up for grabs this Saturday out on the pitch of Seville’s La Cartuja Stadium in the eighth final in history between two titans of Spanish football, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF.

Julio Salinas, a three-time Copa del Rey winner, and Pepe, a two-time champion of the tournament, acted as ambassadors for their respective clubs on the journey that brought the trophy to Seville via a RENFE AVE train, which departed Madrid just after midday. Also present on the trip were RFEF President Rafael Louzán and José Luis Blanco, RENFE’s Director of Institutional Relations.

The two legendary representatives of the finalists shared memories and past experiences ahead of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE grand final.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and its Social Responsibility department linked this high-speed rail journey to the competition’s accompanying campaign, aligning with RENFE’s image as the most sustainable way to travel to the event.

Special Transport Arrangements for the Copa del Rey Final

To ensure fans of Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona can attend the Copa del Rey MAPFRE final in Seville on Saturday, 26th April, RENFE has scheduled 16 additional special trains. Eight round-trip services from Madrid and eight round-trip services from Barcelona

On Thursday from 17:00, the trophy will sail along the Guadalquivir River before arriving at the Palacio de San Telmo, where an official reception will be held by RFEF President Rafael Louzán and Andalusia’s Regional President, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla.
