PREVIEW | Ninety minutes from Euro 2025

The Spanish national team could clinch qualification for next year’s continental championships in Switzerland.

There are still three games left in qualification for the European Championships in Switzerland, but just one may be enough for Spain’s purposes. The Spanish National Team play tonight (21:30, peninsular time on La 1) in what is a decisive match against Denmark as securing qualification is up for grabs. The Spanish women have already put daylight between themselves and second place in the group with a 0-2 victory just a few days ago secured by Jenni Hermoso and Mariona Caldentey.

Now, as stand alone leaders of the group, with a 100 percent win record and only one goal conceded, they face a Danish side who will be going all out for the win. Until recently, the head-to-head between the two teams had not favoured Spain, who failed to record a win in their first twelve matches. However, they have met four times since 2021 and each time Spain have come out on top. What's more, all four of those meetings have ended in clean sheets for the Iberian side.

Maria Caputi to referee the match between Spain and Denmark.

As Montse Tomé said in her first-leg talktalk, recalling her own experiences against Denmark: ‘We lost 5-0! We wanted to win, but we couldn't. Today we can! Today we want to and we can! Let's go get them!’. A lot has changed in the history of a national team that has not stopped growing and is never satisfied with resting on its laurels. The aim is to continue making history and tomorrow they can write another chapter in the history of Spanish women’s football in a sold-out Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium.
