The president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, has begun a round of meetings with the presidents of the football federations that are part of the 2030 World Cup bid, with whom he hopes to establish a close collaboration with a view to organising this great sporting event.

On Tuesday, he travelled to Morocco where he held a meeting with the president of the Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, at the federation’s headquarters, located in Rabat. This is the first contact between the two presidents, after Rafael Louzán was elected as president of the RFEF last December.

During the meeting, Louzan proposed a working and strategy committee, which will be divided into different sectors and will rotate. It will start immediately in Madrid and will be made up of the three federations organising the World Cup in order to make progress with this close collaboration. Representatives of the Argentinian, Uruguayan and Paraguayan federations will also be invited to the first meeting, making a total of six countries and three continents represented at the meeting.

He also announced that a major event will be held in Madrid on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the World Cup in South Africa, to which FIFA and the federations of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will also be invited.

Rafael Louzán proposes the creation of a rotating working committee, which will hold its first meeting in Madrid immediately.

Coinciding with this trip, on Wednesday, the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation will attend the conference organised by the Spanish Embassy, in collaboration with ICEX, for Spanish companies interested in the business opportunities that the 2030 World Cup will create in Morocco.

He will give a presentation to highlight Spain's expertise as a country and as a Federation in the organisation of major world-class sporting events, as well as highlighting the quality, talent and professionalism of Spanish companies and outlining plans for the 2030 World Cup bid.

The President of the RFEF announced the celebration of a major upcoming event, to mark the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the World Cup in South Africa, in which the members of the bid, FIFA, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will also be invited.

In the coming days, Rafael Louzán will hold another meeting with the new president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, who will take office on Monday 24 February.

The aim is to maximise collaboration at presidential level between the three federations involved in hosting what he has described as ‘the best World Cup in history’.
