Spain and Brazil to play a friendly against racism in March 2024

Under the slogan Una misma piel” (One skin), presidents Luis Rubiales and Ednaldo Rodrigues reinforce their commitment against violence in football with a spectacular match that will be a great party.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Brazilian Football Confederation have reached an agreement to play a friendly match in March 2024, which will serve to reinforce the commitment of both entities against violence in football and to intensify the already existing good relations. The match will be played on Spanish soil and will be a great celebration of football between two of the most powerful teams on the international scene.

Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF, was the one who led, after the latest episodes involving Vinicius, the campaign “Racistas, fuera del fútbol” (Racists, out of football), which aims to eradicate racist and xenophobic attitudes from football fields, making fans aware that insults or discriminatory attitudes for any reason are not tolerable. Now, under the slogan Una misma piel” (One skin) Spain and Brazil are strengthening their football ties and social commitments.

The president of the Federation already met a few days ago at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas with Orlando Leite, Brazil's ambassador to Spain, and has been in frequent contact with Ednaldo Rodrigues, the head of the CBF. Both leaders understood that it was a great opportunity to strengthen ties and shout unanimously against violence in football with the celebration of this friendly, a guaranteed spectacle.

It will be the tenth meeting between the Spain and Brazil national teams, who have not faced each other since the 2013 Confederations Cup final. Of the nine previous duels, Spain won two and drew two others, with eight goals scored and 14 conceded.

Both presidents will soon provide more details about the match. In the hypothetical case that the national team would have official commitments in the March 2024 window, a new location in the calendar would be sought for the celebration of this match.
