Spain regain top spot in the FIFA Women’s Rankings!

The National Team lead the table after consolidating their position as an international benchmark for success following the European Championships

Spain return to the top. After a brilliant European Championships, the Spanish National Team have regained first place in the FIFA Women’s Ranking, overtaking the United States and reaffirming Spanish dominance in world football with a total of 2066.79 points. 

The team led by Montse Tomé have done more than enough to reclaim top spot. The national side won five of the six matches in Switzerland, recording emphatic results and performances that showed immense strength and a unique style of play, finishing the tournament as the highest-scoring team.

As for individual accolades following the continental tournament, no fewer than four players were named in the Team of the Tournament: Irene Paredes, Aitana Bonmatí, Alexia Putellas and Patri Guijarro.

Aitana was also awarded the Euro Player of the Tournament, Esther González claimed the Golden Boot after finishing as top scorer with four goals, and Alexia ended as the leading assist provider in Switzerland.

After making history by defeating Germany for the first time and qualifying for a European final, the Spanish National Team, World Cup and Nations League champions, regain the throne of women’s world football and strengthen a sporting project that is a global reference in football.
