After 104 years of history, the Spanish national team broke its all-time record for goals scored in the finals of a major competition on Sunday.

With the two goals scored in the second half of the final against England, fifteen goals were scored in the seven matches played on German soil, two more than in the previous edition, when penalties against Italy halted the national team's progress to the final.

The figure also surpasses the twelve goals scored during the glorious Euro 2008 and 2012, as well as the eleven in the unforgettable Mexico 1986 World Cup and the ten in Brazil 1950.

At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, eight goals were scored in seven matches to achieve the star that crowns the shield of the Spain shirt. A shirt which, this Sunday, also achieved something that no team has ever achieved before: the fourth European Championships in its trophy cabinet.
